Imphal, February 25 2012:
Claiming that Congress party would achieve single largest majority, if not absolute majority, MP Thangso Baite has ruled out any possible change of Chief Minister.
Speaking to some media persons today, Thangso Baite said the Congress party fought the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections under the leadership of Okram Ibobi who is also leader of the Congress Legislature Party.
He exuded that Congress would achieve single largest majority, if not absolute majority when the election results are declared.
People in both the hills and valley have confidence that the existing SPF-II Government would retain absolute majority or single largest party status.
As such, there would be no change to the position of Chief Minister O Ibobi who has been heading the SPF Government.
O Ibobi would remain Chief Minister of the upcoming new Government, the MP asserted.

Claiming that AICC president Sonia Gandhi openly announced her confidence in O Ibobi's leadership during a meeting of Congress MPs held at New Delhi ahead of the recent Assembly election, Thangso construed that Sonia Gandhi's statement was an indication of retaining Okram Ibobi Singh as Chief Minister for the next Government.
On being enquired about the mismatching photographs, proxy votes and related issues, Thangso stated that photographs of voters were not taken on polling days in all other States except Manipur.
He said, "I don't think it is justified to go for re-poll on account of the photographs taken on polling day.
Should there be re-poll, then why are the EVMs being kept in strong rooms with elaborate measures ?" .
Re-poll had been already held in some polling stations.
There is no need for any more re-poll, he maintained.
Congress would certainly form the next Government by winning 25 to 30 seats, the Outer Manipur MP affirmed.
