Poll personnel to fan out from Jan 24

For the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections scheduled to be held on January 28, polling personnel detailed for duty would start moving to their respective polling stations from January 24. Sources in the State Election Commission informed that polling personnel designated for Vangai range of Churachandpur district would be sent to their stations starting from January 24 along with polling materials.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has been closely examining to categorise polling stations into sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling stations so that effective security measures could be put in place ahead of the polling day at each and every polling station.
It has been already reported that 350 companies of security forces would be used in the Manipur Assembly election.
The 350 companies of security forces detailed for election duty in Manipur include 120 companies of CRPF, 96 companies of BSF, 10 companies of ITBP, 30 companies of SSB, 22 companies of Assam Police, five companies of Orissa Police, eight companies of Railway Protection Force (RPF), five companies of Bihar Police, six companies of Arunachal Pradesh Police, six companies of Tripura Police, 16 companies of Jharkhand Police and 20 companies of CISF.
All these companies have reached Imphal by January 21. Out of these 350 companies, 45 companies including 10 companies of CRPF, 13 companies of BSF, 12 companies of Assam Police, 8 companies of Jharkhand Police and 12 companies of CISF have been deployed in Imphal East district.
Fifty companies including 24 CRPF companies, 11 BSF companies, 4 ITBP companies, 7 SSB companies and 4 CISF companies have been deployed Imphal West district.
In Thoubal district, 55 companies have been deployed and these include 21 CRPF companies, 15 BSF companies, 18 SSB companies, one Assam Police company.
A total of 30 companies comprising of 10 CRPF companies, 10 BSF companies, six companies of Arunachal Pradesh Police and four companies of Jharkhand Police have been deployed in Bishnupur district.
In Churachandpur district, 40 companies including 12 CRPF companies, 16 BSF companies, 6 Assam Police companies and 6 Mizoram Police companies have been deployed.
In Chandel district, 18 CRPF companies and two BSF companies have been deployed.
Moreover, a total 30 companies have been deployed in Ukhrul district and these include 10 CRPF companies, two BSF companies, five SSB companies, seven Assam Police companies and six Tripura Police companies.
Fifty companies comprising of six CRPF companies, nine BSF companies, six ITBP companies, six Assam Police companies, five Orissa Police companies, five RPF companies, five Bihar Police companies and eight Jharkhand Police companies have been deployed in Senapati district.
Like 30 companies have been deployed in Tamenglong district and these include nine CRPF companies, 18 BSF companies and 3 RPF companies.
Notably, police observers have been already appointed for each and every district to keep a close watch on any untoward incident related with the election.
Moreover, expenditure observers and flying squads have been keeping a strict vigil on movement of any substantial amount of cash.
