Imphal, July 01, 2012:
Urging the district administration of Senapati to look into the matter of delay in completion of multi-crore works in Senapati even after the pre-matured inauguration of the projects, the Naga People's Organi-sation (NPO) has told all contractors, officials and engineers to complete the projects by July 15. In a statement, general secretary of NPO, T Khamba Moses pointed out that even though the New Mini-secretariat office and 50 bedded Hospital along with number of Government buildings were inaugurated on November 2, 2011 by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in the presence of Manipur CM and Ministers, the same remained incomplete till today.
As per the findings during the NPO's inspection on June 28 this year, the said buildings are far from completion and some buildings are of very poor quality works, the NPO alleged.
Wondering why inauguration programme was held even without completing 80 percent of the works, the NPO further questioned the quality of works in the construction of the New Mini-secretariat buildings and others, where the recent monsoon season has exposed leakages of new building roof, collapsing of retaining walls near guest house due to poor quality maintenance.
Any attempt to hoodwink the public and materializing projects only in paper and poor infrastructure construction will be unacceptable and the department and contractors concerned will be held accountable for any consequences in the future, the NPO statement maintained.
Appealing the District Administration to intervene into the matter, the NPO also urged the concerned department officials, engineers and contractors to complete the said works before July 15, failing which the NPO will not hesitate to complain Union Home Minister and follow up with appropriate actions against them.
