Imphal, February 29 2012:
Endorsing the All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) in demanding re-poll, the All India Tribal Students' Association, Delhi and Mongoloid People's Forum (MPF) have expressed concerns over the alleged wayward conduct of the hill leaders in the 10th Assembly election and the stepmotherly attitude of the Central Government in dealing with the North East and particularly with Manipur.
In a statement, President of AITSA and Convenor of MPF, K Zou maintained that when the whole world has seen the craving of the people for peace and good governance, people sitting in Delhi seems to be least concern about bringing pragmatic changes in the heartland of the mongoloid race of India.
Though the State CEO PC Lawmkunga and his teams worked tirelessly to ensure peaceful voting in the assembly election, unscrupulous candidates, armed groups and political parties totally defaults the entire election procedures, it contended.
Despite, sufficient evidence and documents supporting the various complaints and records of the Election Commission, it is utterly unfortunate that the Chief Election Commission of India took these gross violation of election proceedings in their lighter vein.
The silence of the CEC of India amounts to an expression of denying good governance in Manipur.
It asked as if the reaction of the CEC be different if J.M.Lyngdoh had been in the chair.
Further, the Central Government appears to be serious about restoring peace, yet, meticulously denied the same.
Thousands of cores of money have been pumped into Manipur in the name of insurgency and other anti-national movements but never reached the common people, it alleged.
When people of Manipur are one of the best soldiers of the country, the pride of the nation in sports and the largest migrants from the Northeast, they are still denied justice not only in the mainland but in their own state as well, it maintained.
It further added that sporadic presentation of solar lamps, computers, free medical camps and taking students on tour in the mainland cities by the army personnel are praiseworthy but far from being enough for restoring accountable government.
The statement also appealed all right thinking people of Manipur irrespective of community to come forward for the better governance as the Centre seems to be half-hearted about bringing holistic improvement in our state.
