Imphal, October 23:
A division bench of the Gauhati High Court, principal bench, headed by Chief Justice RS Mongia, has stayed five separate orders of a single judge bench of the court which had allowed 74 primary teachers to continue their adhoc services which had been terminated by the Manipur government as part of its downsizing policy.
The divisional bench passed its order on October 17 last following a writ appeals filed by the state government against the previous orders of the single bench of the court.
The earlier interim orders of the single bench of the court stayed the operation of the order dated August 21, 2001, of the state education department, which had abolished altogether 928 posts of primary school teachers.
The orders were passed on five writ petition filed by 74 of the affected teachers who were serving on adhoc basis.
These 74 teachers were appointed at various times from 1997 to 1999 for an initial period of three months each, but without administrative approval.
