Governor Ved Prakash Marwah said the feeling of superiority vis-�-vis inferiority complex is the main cause of conflict among various ethnic groups in the state.
The Governor was inaugurating the 2nd Indigenous Brothers� Met, being organized by the League of the Fourth World People at the premises of Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Imphal this morning.
The four-day-long residential camp is being participated by various indigenous communities living in Manipur.
Marwah said the question of superiority vis-�-vis inferiority is like the two sides of the same coin.
Instead of thinking so, one should be proud of their own identity and culture, he said.
Stating that one should be conscious of their roots he added that strengthening of their roots would help in bring peace and harmony which is of dire necessity in Manipur today.
If one fails to be proud of one�s identity and culture, they can�t look at other people in harmonious manner, the Governor said.
Paojailong Thiamei, who attended the inaugural function as the guest of honor said peaceful coexistence will be possible only when there is strict maintenance of respect among the different ethnic communities.
H Ibotombi Khuman, the chairman of the organizing committee remembered the past glory of Manipur where hill and valley people lived in complete harmony.
The aim of the meet is to bring back those days by having discussions, organizing cultural programmes and sorting out problems.
An indigenous photo exhibition depicting the arts and culture of various indigenous communities of Manipur was also opened by the Governor.
