The Lingmai Naga Council has urged Governor Ved Marwah to reform and strengthen the functioning of schools in the hill areas and also to open schools with buildings in the hill districts as the hill areas are lagging far behind in the educational infrastructure.
In a representation submitted to the Governor, the Naga body said that though a huge amount of money have been earmarked under the Basic Minimum Scheme for construction of school buildings there is hardly any class room for the students.
High school building construction under the non-lapsable pool directly dealt by the School Education has not been implemented in Tamenglong district, said the representation.
The representation urged the Governor to ensure that headmasters, teachers and other staff are posted at all the schools in the hill areas.
The Governor was also urged to hand over the construction of the Tamei-Tening road, Leimakhong-Tamei road via Makui junction and Tamei-Kuiluang road to the BRO.
stating that the Imphal-Tamenglong road via Kangpokpi is one of the oldest state highway in the state, the Naga Council appealed to the Governor to improve and maintain IT road, Khongsang-Tamenglong road and New Kaiophundai-Tousem road.
