To improve bilateral relation between the two neighbouring countries, Government of India has provided a large quantity of equipments related to earth moving, surface transport, information and communication.
On behalf of the Chief of Army, Government of India GOC 3 Corps Lt Gen NK Singh handed over four dozers, two motor graders from the side of Ministry of Defence as well as one Bolero, three motorcycles, three computer sets, one 6 KV generator, six Walkie Talkies along with head phones and chargers to Brig General of Myanmar Soe Lwin during a simple function at Sunrise Youth Club, Moreh ground.
Indian Ambassador Dr VS Seshadri, GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen DS Hooda, IGAR (South) Maj Gen CA Krishnan, Brig SK Bhanot were also present at the occasion as Govt of India representatives while Mynamar was represented by its Brig General Soe Lwin, Commander North Western Command and their sub-ordinate staff.
In his address, Brig General Soe Lwin noted that it is for the fifth time that Govt of India has provided such assistance to Myanmar.
Moreover, India had been extending help in construction of road and bridges in remote rural areas of Myanmar, he said, adding that the equipments provided from the side of the Government of India are being utilised by the Myanmarese Army, specially by those who are posted in border areas.
Speaking at the occasion, GOC 3 Corps Lt General NK Singh said that it was a matter of great honour to present all the materials on behalf of Indian Chief of Army.
He expressed hope that such assistance would help in strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two neighbouring countries and co-operation in future.
All possible help and co-operation would be given to Myanmarese Army as well as to the people of Myanmar, he assured.
At the occasion, cultural items from India and Myanmar were also presented much to the delight of all those who were present.
