CADA condoles demise of boxer Ng Dingko, comedian Surmangol

The Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) has expressed heartfelt condolences over the recent demise of boxing legend Ngangom Dingko and noted comedian Thokchom Surmangol and shared the grief of bereaved families, close friends and well wishers.
Ngangom Dingko was a precious gem who clinched a gold medal at the 1998 Asian Games and brought laurels to the Country and the State, said CADA in a press release.
The State people were overwhelmed with joy and happiness over his gold medal feat and was thus accorded a hero's welcome, grandest till date, upon his return.
Mention may be made that Dingko was sidelined during the trial process for Indian boxing team for the said event before he was included in the last minute, recalled CADA.
His success inspired many youngsters to endorse boxing, said CADA while calling on younger generations to note the determination and pledge to refrain from intoxicants from him in order to achieve their dreams and life goals.
In the meantime, CADA also maintained that the demise of comedian Thokchom Surmangol to Covid, was a great loss to the State and among artistes' fraternity.
Surmangol was a talented artistes known for his comic roles in film, shumang kumhei and especially in entertaining and humorous nokphade series, it said.
He had an immense contribution towards bringing positive social reformation with his funny and witty jokes based on social facts, said CADA.
Many of his jokes and acts also bore hard hitting messages on ill effects of drug abuse, it continued.
