Apollo Tyres develops artificial football turf

For the first time in the North East, leading tyre maker Apollo lyres contributed one artificial football turf at Kago Football ground located along Imphal-Airport Road under the company's 12th 'Go the Distance Pitch' programme.
'Go the Distance Pitch' is a long-term programme taken up by Apollo Tyres to create artificial football pitches using 100 percent repurposed rubber from its own tyres and the company had already opened 11 football pitches at different places and the one at Kago Football ground was the first such facility in the North East.
The company opened its first ever 'Go the Distance Pitch' at its partner Manchester United's ground at the iconic Old Trafford.
The 160X60 feet size artificial football turf at Kago Football ground was inaugurated by Chennaiyin FC captain Anirudh Thapa, state origin player Kh Ningthoinganba and international player Wafa Hakhamensi.
They also had an interaction with the children of Kago academy and officials of Apollo Tyres.
The pitch at Kago ground was laid using 7,500kg of crumb rubber of around 1,500 tyres of the company.
