According to a source, the minor reportedly went missing after the marriage ceremony, which led to the concerned family members and locals launching a search in their locality and the surrounding areas.
Later, at around 11 pm, she was found unconscious in a paddy field located at Nongada Maning Leikai (Santipur) Hiripat, under Lamlai PS.
When she regained consciousness, she disclosed about what happened to her and following her revelation, her family members filed a complaint before Lamlai PS.

The source mentioned that during preliminary interrogation, it came to light that both Sanasam Malemnganba and Laishram Tangba are friends of the victim's elder brother.
On the other hand, before police were able to arrest Malemnganba, a large number of Nongada Meira Paibis took out a protest rally and attempted to storm Lamlai PS demanding the arrest of the culprits involved in the heinous crime and to give them befitting punishment.
However they were stopped by a large number of police personnel, including women police, near Lamlai VDF post, before reaching the station.
