Social Work Fest commences at Don Bosco College, Maram

The 2nd edition of the 2-day Social Work Festival-2020 began today at Don Bosco College, Maram under the theme, "Connecting young minds for change".
The festival is being organised by the Social Work department of the college.
The inaugural session was graced by Thaikho Peter, Executive Member (Education), ADC Senapati as chief guest and Dr Robin Raomai, Founder & Director, Compassion Children Ministry (CCM) as a guest of honour.
On the opening day, Rongmei Naga dance was showcased by students.
Welcoming the guest at the beginning of the programme, Fr KO Sebastian, Principal of the college, stated that changes are what makes life interesting.
Stating that people in the country's capital have been protesting against CAA and over 30 people have died, he continued that the purpose of the festival is to bring about a change in the society that benefits all.
Dr Robin Raomai, while stating that youth are the problem solver and the agent for change in society, urged the youth to give their best effort and change the society to a better one.
He also pointed out that that one needs creative ideas to change society into a better one.
Due to lack of developmental projects, Senapati lacks in different fields, he said and urged the gathering to work hard for the betterment of the society.
Speaking as the chief guest, Thaikho Peter asked all to become an agent of change.
Youth has the power to decide what kind of future they would have in their lives, Peter said and further urged the youth to identify the things that are hindering the development of the society.
As no society is perfectly set up in the beginning, there is no limit to change the society for a better one, he maintained.
Urging the gathering to realise the need to change for a better and be that agent to change, the executive member also asked to work with Govt agencies for a social change.
Panel discussion on "Youth: Social responsibilities and participation in decision making," smartphone photography competition, debate competition on "Digital revolution is a boon to youth development," and career guidance session from different personalities would be conducted on the closing day.
Other institutions including Asufii Christian Institute, Mt Carmel Academy, Brook Dale, Mt Zion College, Lungnila Elizabeth School of Social Work, IGNOU, Oinam Hill High School and St Joseph College, Dimapur are also taking part in the programme.
