Workshop on Climate Change held

A workshop on "Climate Change" was held Wednesday at Gelnal Village, IT Road, Kangpokpi District under the sponsorship of United NGOs Mission Manipur (UnMM).
Islam Uddin, secy UnMM; Raja Uddin, executive committee member UnMM and Boipu, chief coordinator UnMM, were the resource person of the workshop.
They gave a clear picture on how Gelnal community can make differences and transform the village into a Model village.
The resource persons present also highlighted the need to combat solid waste management and preserve forest areas in combating climate.
Later, the UnMM member distributed over 14 garbage bins and one football.
Ways to utilise garbage-bins were also stressed by the resource person.
Around 40 denizens of Gelnal village took part in the programme including representatives from Village Authority, Women Society, Churches, Youth Club and Women Wing Union.
The Village's chief spoke about his interest on the plantation of Parkia/tree bean locally called jonglha/jongchak.
Besides, he also mentioned how certain crops can be grown in the areas for economic development.
Women wing also showed their interest on how a variety of crops can be grown in and around Gelnal areas.
Several questions were also put up by women wing which in turn were answered accordingly by the resource persons.
