Imphal, July 19 2012:
Ahead of the local bodies election slated for september, All Tentha 10th Zilla Parishad Election Committee has fervently appealed to the Government to take up relevant measures for ensuring free and fair polling.
Informing that the Committee covers Tentha Samaram, Khongjin and Wangjing areas, Committee president Y Inaocha told newspersons at Tentha today that the Government needs to ensure a conducive atmosphere for the voters to exercise their franchise rights without interference from any quarters.
Contemplating that the upcoming local bodies election is likely to be disrupted from certain adverse elements, he, however, did not specify on the likely source of disturbance.
Joining the media briefing, one Mutum Ongbi Bilashini Devi alleged that about 100 men and women led by candidate-aspirant Kh Priyojit came to her house on July 16 at around 6.30 pm and asked her why she ventured into Samaram when Tentha public had already decided to remain united in the election.
Bilashini further claimed that the intruders left her house only when a large number of locals showed up on hearing the commotion.
She also described as unfortunate misleading information published through the media.
