Imphal, January 18 2020:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh has opined that politicians and social workers (who wish to enter politics) should support the BJP if they love the State and its people, adding that they need not join any other political party.
He made the statement during the felicitation of eight members of Oinam Municipal Council (including its Chairperson) and one Member of Chandel Autonomous District Council, who joined the BJP at the party's office at Canchipur today.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Biren lauded the eight individuals for putting faith in the BJP-led Governments of both the Centre and the State.

He continued that people venture into politics in order to contribute what they can for the betterment of the people and the society and opined that if any politicians or social workers love the people and the State, then they should join/support only the BJP and not other parties.
Stating that he is open for a debate in this regard as well, Biren said that the members who joined the party today, did so thinking for the greater good of the State and its people.
Biren said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended the Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) to Manipur taking the sentiment and desire of the people into consideration.
Even BJP Central leaders came to Manipur holding ILP passes.
If other parties cannot appreciate the efforts of the BJP even at such achievements, then there is nothing which will please them, he added.
The ILPS was extended for the protection of the indigenous people.
Today, the people and the State have been saved, Biren claimed.
Asking which political party, apart from BJP, has done anything worth considering for the welfare of the people during the last 50-60 years, the CM stressed on the importance of showing gratitude and added that only the BJP has been able to bring rapid development, tranquillity and advancement in the State on every aspect of life.
Clarifying about the allegations by NPF MLA Leishiyo Keishing about lack of funds for developing infrastructures at Phungyar A/C, the Chief Minister explained that Rs 250 crore has been set aside for developing roads in Phungyar.
There is a proposal for transformation of Haflong road into a National Highway.
As no development is possible without proper roads and means of connectivity, the Government of India has been providing ample funds for such projects, he explained.
Stating that the people do not want to hear the rubbish spouted by so called political parties who cannot produce even a single MLA, Chief Minister Biren said that the 2022 general election is not far away and appealed to all to work hard together to ensure that BJP comes to power again.
On the other hand, Biren alleged that the rally organised by a party demanding the State Government to ensure fair and corruption free IRB recruitment process, is just a facade.
He reasoned that the Congress party has no moral right to teach BJP when it comes to recruitment processes.
There were many scandals and errors when it comes to recruitment during the time of the Congress Government.
The BJP will carry out every task in a transparent manner.
There will be no corruption, he said.
