Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today launched the press sticker of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) at a function held at Manipur Press Club.

Maintaining that it is known to everybody how media persons are rendering service in the prevailing situation of Manipur, Gaikhangam expressed hope that the media fraternity would demonstrate to the people with its actions that they are neutral and they always stand for the 'truth' .
"As we have lawmakers, there are law breakers as well in our society.
As such police also face lots of problems in maintaining law and order due to the prevailing situation of the State", Gaikhangam said.
Saying that misunderstandings may sometimes crop up between police and media persons due to mis-communication, Gaikhangam expressed hope that the newly launched press sticker would reduce these misunderstandings.
DGP LM Khaute, IGP Clay Khongsai and AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai graced the occasion as president and guests of honour respectively.
LM Khaute said that launching of press sticker and jacket by AMWJU would help maintain good rapport between police and media persons.
Maintaining that police and media never work against each other, LM Khaute said that he would put in his best effort to reduce the communication gap between the two entities.
In his speech, Wangkhemcha Shamjai admitted that there are some scribes whose activities have put the whole media fraternity in poor light.
As such, AMWJU would issue the press stickers under a strict guideline, he said.
Shamjai also urged the scribes not to misuse the newly launched press stickers.
