CCpur/Tml, September 03 2022:
Teachers under RMSA/SSA, collectively known as SAMAGRA, continued their protest at the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Churachandpur campus for second straight day on Saturday.
The teachers have been demanding the state government not to change salary head into non-plan head, on the ground that the latter riddled by irregularities in terms of payment.
According to Mayjoy, one of the teachers protesting against the state government's plan, these teachers were recruited through proper channel and DPC.
In 2020, they were absorbed and integrated into the state education (S) department leading to regular payment of salary.
However, on August 2, the director of education issued an order directing the change of their salary head into the non-plan head, which is very irregular.
The teachers are now demanding the state government to integrate them back in the education (S) department.
They have been protesting since the last four days - taking mass casual leave for two days followed by a sit-in protest on Friday and Saturday.
Teachers in Tamenglong district under the guidance of All Integrated Teachers' Association, Manipur (AITAM) also organised a sitin-protest at ZEO Office, Tamenglong for the second day on Saturday.
The integrated teachers of the district protested and condemned the order issued by the education (S) department that directed withdrawal of teachers' salaries from a new account head.
The protesters displayed placards and raised slogans such as 'remove incompetent director', 'don't victimise teachers', 'don't demoralise teachers', 'no segregation among teachers', 'no change of salary head', 'equal work equal status', Revoke the unwanted order', etc.
