Police, SFs arrest 40 UG cadres in April

Imphal, April 30 2012:
Even though cases of killing in encounters have reduced significantly under the new Congress government led by Chief Minister O Ibobi with Gaikhangam as its Home Minister, violence against women and child, human trafficking are increasing on the rise alarming.
As per achievement of the new government, police and security forces have so far arrested 40 UG cadres of 17 different UG organisations in the month of April, 2012 .
Moreover, eight guns, 30 ammunitions, seven bombs and 12 mobile handsets were recovered from them.
Mention may be made that so far 305 cadres of different UG organisations have been arrested along with 62 guns 650 live ammunitions, 41 mobile handsets, Rs 2,54,230 cash, three walkie talki sets and 77 bombs since January this year.
Meanwhile, village secretary of Saikot village identified as Tangkha Maring (51) has been reportedly killed after being abducted at Chandolpokpi under Chandel Police Station in the month.
In all 43 persons were killed by security forces and unknown persons in the past four months.
Out of them 13 were civilians, six were personel of security forces and one gang member while the remaining 23 were alleged UG cadres.
