Imphal, August 29 2009:
The JAC formed in connection with the killing of Thokchom Ongbi Rabina has also rejected any inquiry over the Khwairamband Bazar incident of July 23 .
Talking to mediapersons in this connection at Lamshang today, JAC member Nongleima said there is no point of conducting any inquiry into the incident as who were responsible for opening fire have been made known to the people all over the world.
So any attempt on the part of the Government to go ahead with its judicial inquiry would amount to suppressing the movement of the people and protecting the culprits.
While decrying the failure of the Governor to translate the assurances given on the demands of the Apunba Lup even after the expiry of the deadline, Nongleima asserted that how the Government of India look down on the people of Manipur has also been illustrated by stoic the silence of Union Home Secretary GK Pillai who visited the State recently but did not say anything about the public demands over the July 23 incident and the ongoing agitation.
She further said that at the instruction of the Apunba Lup, the JAC has made necessary preparation to intensify the ongoing agitation until the Government bows down to the rightful demands of the people.
