Imphal, June 24:
Various organizations in Bangladesh expressed strong opposition to extension of NSCN (IM)-GoI ceasefire to areas of beyond Nagaland particularly in Manipur stating that it is most likely to lead to disintegration of Manipur.
They also expressed strong condemnation of the CRPF firing on June 18 in Imphal which left 13 protestors dead (now 14) and scores of others injured.
A joint meeting of various organizations organized by the Integrated Manipuri Association (IMA), Bangladesh, on June 22 at the office of the Manipur Sampradai Kalyan Parishad (MSKP) in Sylhet registered strong condemnation of the June 18 firing in Imphal.
They also mourned the death of 13 protestors.
The meeting was attended by, among others, representatives of IMA, MSKP, Bangladesh Manipuri Sahitya Sangshad, Bangladesh Manipuri Chhatra Samiti, Manipuri Sanskritik Parishad, Manipuri Cultural Academy, IPAM, Ramnagar, Manipuri Chaokhat Khongthang Nupi Lup, Manipuri Sanskritik Academy (Naldhari), Manipuri Muslim Samaj Kalyan Parishad and various other prominent personalities, according to a release by M Uttam Singh Ratan, General Secretary of IMA.
A resolution adopted in the meeting strongly opposed the �conspiracy� to disintegrate Manipur by extending ceasefire into its territory.
At the same time, it is also condemned the CRPF firing at the protestors on June 18 in Imphal.
Insisting that the territorial integrity of Manipur must not be disturbed, another resolution appealed to the Government of India to t\withdraw the ceasefire extension in order to bring back peace in the state and region.
Earlier on June 21, a meeting organized by the Bangladesh Manipuri Chhatra Samiti at the Sylhet MC University auditorium hall deplored the attitude of the government of India towards Manipur.
The meeting, attended by executive members, observed two-minute silence to mourn the death of the 13 protestors and condemned the CRPF firing.
