Imphal, June 16 2009:
Even as the Cabinet has decided that the sixth session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly will start from July 3, it has also been decided to approach the Centre to allow certain additions to the detailed project report prepared for development of Naga rivulet under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission.
These decisions were taken during a Cabinet meeting held today.
Being the Budget session, the forthcoming Assembly session may continue for around 20 days.
The exact number of sittings will be decided by the Business Advisory Committee of the State Assembly, conveyed a senior Minister in the SPF Government.
The Cabinet agreed to appeal to the Centre to permit certain additions to the detailed project report already prepared for development of Naga rivulet under JNURM.
The new additions include roofing the rivulet with RCC to make parking lots, making thoroughfares, landscaping and installing street lamps along the course of the rivulet.
Rs 100 crores have been already sanctioned for the first phase of the project.
The Cabinet also decided to seek technical sanction from PWD SEs for the revised project before seeking the counter-sign from the Chief Engineer.
On establishment of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, the Cabinet decided to entrust the HAC to seek opinion on selection of appropriate site.
The Cabinet agreed on creating two ex-cadre posts of Additional Chief Conservator of Forest.
The said posts would be reserved for candidates who have cleared Indian Forest Service exam.
Another reliable source informed that the Cabinet meeting deliberated on its earlier decision to evict all offices of civil society organisations and student bodies currently occupying campus of Govt institutions.
