The former BJP state unit president and ex-MLA Lt Col (retired) H Bhuban Singh has resigned from the primary membership of the BJP.
His resignation letter was dispatched to the BJP national president, K Jana Krishnamurthi today.
Outlining his reasons for leaving the party, Col Bhuban charged in his resignation letter, a copy of which was made available to the press, that the BJP does not bother about Manipur and its own basic philosophy of integral humanism.
Col Bhuban in his resignation letter also attacked the BJP secretary in charge of northeast affairs, PB Acharya, blaming the latter for the downfall of the BJP in Manipur, Bhuban further accused Acharya of misguiding the Central leadership's perception of Manipur, particularly with regard to the issue of ceasefire extension.
BJP state unit general secretary, Kh Ibomcha Singh has also resigned from the party.
It may be mentioned that in other political developments over the past two weeks, former deputy chief minister Dr L Chandramani Singh has joined the Federal Party of Manipur, and has been elected its new president during a special session of the FPM general assembly held on October 4 last.
The founder FPM president Prof Gangmumei Kamei has been elected vice-president.
Apart from Dr Chandramani, altogether 18 ex-MLAs have joined the FPM, including Samuel Jendai, S Rajen, N Biren, P Achou, M Kumar, I Hernochandra, N Bihari, Ksh Biren, K Tomba, L Tomba, M Nilachandra, L Jatra, M Kunjo, M Babu, Thangminlen Kipgen, N Zatawn, Dr W Thoiba Singh, and S Chandra.
