Imphal, June 11 2021:
Even though government of India has assured of providing 5 kg of rice each to every citizen of the country so as to reduce some of the burden faced by the people due to Covid-19 pandemic people in various pockets of Wangoi AC are receiving only 3 kg of food grains and four kg in some areas, alleged Communist Party of India (CPI) .
In a release, CPI Wangoi Local Council local secretary Y Ibocha pointed out that people of Thongkhong Laxmi Bazar Municipal ward no.6 are extremely aggrieved as only three kg of rice is given to them.
Citing complaints from the locals that agents or those who arrange distribution of food grains took all the remaining food grains out the total rice allocation of the government, the CPI Local Council has urged the government to look into the matter.
Moreover, failure to give ration cards to the poor people has added to burden to the people already reeling under severe hardships, Ibocha maintained, while appealing to the government to look into the matter without delay.
He further urged the CM, top officials and the High Court to translate their directives of providing 5 kg of rice to every beneficiary into action.
