Joint meet calls for resolving Naga issue

A joint consultative meeting of Makhan-Kanglatongbi Naga Forum and Koubru Range Foothills Area Naga Leaders in association with United Naga Council (UNC) Working Committee held on Thursday to address the prevailing situation in Manipur has called for solution to the Naga issue.
The participants, including representatives from various Naga organisations and community leaders, engaged in a comprehensive discussion focusing on safeguarding the rights and interests of the Nagas.
The primary objectives of the meeting were to foster constructive dialogue and find peaceful resolutions to challenges faced by the Naga community in Manipur while upholding the sanctity and sovereignty of Naga land.
During the meeting, several key points were unanimously agreed upon, which include preservation of Naga land; peaceful and constructive dialogue; and unity and coordination among Naga tribes among others.
The meet emphasised the importance of preserving and protecting Naga land as an essential aspect of their cultural heritage.
It opposed any attempts to disintegrate Naga areas or compromise the interests of Naga people while addressing the demands of other communities or resolving conflicts within Manipur while insisting that Naga community must be consulted for any matters related to their land.
The meeting also highlighted the significance of maintaining a peaceful and constructive atmosphere for dialogue, which would aid in finding mutually acceptable solutions, in line with the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and Naga leadership.
Recognising the strength in unity, the meet emphasised the need for cohesive efforts among various Naga organisations and communities.
They reaffirmed their commitment to collectively address challenges faced by the Nagas in Manipur through UNC.
While maintaining neutrality, the meet acknowledged the importance of engaging with government authorities to express their concerns and aspirations.
They expressed their intention to seek peaceful negotiations and meaningful dialogues with government representatives with the aim to achieve lasting solutions that respect Naga land rights and encourage open communication among stakeholders.
The meet conveyed a message to the government and other communities, urging them to respect Naga land rights and work toward amicable solutions through peaceful dialogue.
