GOI's talks with KNO/UPF unacceptable: COCOMI

Imphal, August 16 2023: Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has said that the step taken by the Government of India to hold talk with the umbrella organisation of immigrant Chin-Kuki narco-terrorist namely KNO and UPF on August 17 is a very wrong and unacceptable at all.

According to a COCOMI statement, the Assam Rifles, one of the Central paramilitary forces, entered into Suspension of Operation (S6O) with KNO and UPF in 2005 .

SoO is generally done either when a conflict brings huge casualties on warring sides or when there is popular call for suspension of hostilities from general public owing to huge casualties in a conflict.

However, the SoO maintained between Assam Rifles and KNO and UPF was not only without any casualty on either side but also did not took approval from the government.

As the SoO initially maintained between the two sides was without the knowledge of the state, it is clear that there is a hidden agenda.

Incidentally, the Government of India (GOI) and Government of Manipur signed the tripartite SoO agreement with narco-terrorist KNO/UPF in the year 2008 after Assam Rifles convinced the GOI that signing of the tripartite agreement will be a great advantage in geo-politics.

To convert Manipur into another Golden Triangle, the SoO agreement was signed with foreign militants investing money for drug, the COCOMI said.

While asserting that it a big mistake for the GOI to open designated camps for foreign militants in Manipur, COCOMI said that the committee and the people of Manipur take seriously the talks with foreign militant leaders like ZRA chairman Thanglianpao Guite and KNO president PS Haokip.
