Rhesus Macaque saved

Timely action by personnel of Lilong Police Station led to the rescue and saving the life of a Rhesus Macaque (Monkey) today.
According to a statement issued by L.Biswajeet Meitei, Managing Trustee of People for Animals Thoubal, Manipur; the monkey was saved by a police team led by WSI Okram Chaoba Devi.
About 10 days before, the monkey was seen at Lillong Arapti area near the river bank where Iril & Thoubal river meets.
This mischievous monkey used to eat cucumber, freshly sow bean from the river bank farm run by Kangleipak Economic development Organisation (KEDO) .
Today farmers of KEDO and local residents of Lilong chased the monkey and caught it near the Lilong bridge.
KEDO wanted to hand over the animal to PFA while some doesn't.In the meantime, PFA was informed and took and the poor animal into its custody.
Before the arrival of PFA team, WSI Chaoba rescued the animal and it brought to her station.
PFA rushed to the police station and took the monkey to the State Zoological Garden at Iroisemba.
The monkey would be released back to the wild along with three other monkeys, the PFA statement informed.
