Brought ill, 76-yr-old patient dies at UDH

A 76-year-old man passed away at Ukhrul District Hospital (UDH) around noon on Thursday, a day after he was brought sick from his home at Lunghar village.
This records the district's Covid death toll as 11 in the present second wave of the pandemic.
Sources said that the deceased Thuingaleng Kazingmei was found to be Covid positive after he was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday.
He was said to have been sick for several days at his home.
On learning about the Covid status of the patient, the entire Lunghar village has been reportedly left panic-stricken, prompting the village authority to announce restrictions on movement of villagers in different localities within the village, the source said.
According to the source, there is fear of spreading of the virus among the villagers as many of them, including relatives had visited Kazingmei while he was sick and bed-ridden at his home.
Meanwhile, the district magistrate of Ukhrul has declared the deceased's residential areas in the village as containment zone, advising anyone who had come into contact with the deceased for strict self-isolation and to report to the medical department for necessary actions.
On the other hand, another fresh 18 positive cases were detected from across different parts of the district on Thursday, taking the total active cases to 123 .
Of the active cases, 72 patients are being kept at Transit camp CCC, 24 at Jessami CIC, 20 at UDH Isolation Ward, three at Shangkai CIC, two at Lambui CIC and one each at Tongou CIC and Maichon CIC, according to a source from DSO.
It said that the total number of cumulative positive cases now stands at 342, including 10 referred out of the district.
