Tamenglong, July 26 2013 :
In spite of repeated requests made to the concerned authorities to maintain the life line of Tousem Sub- Division, the 56-km road from Kaiphundai to Tousem HQs and to construction a bridge over Makru River between Tousem and Saramba village, till date no action has been taken up, Development Committee of Tousem Block (DCT) has lamented.
In a statement, Chairman of DCT Dikham Gonmei pointed out that after Makru bridge located between Tousem and Saramba village was washed away in 2012 by torrential rain, the Committee had repeatedly requested the PWD Tamenglong, PWD Minister, Govt of Manipur as well as the local MLA to construct a bridge over Makru River between Saramba and Tousem HQs but no action has been taken so far.
Moreover, an amount of Rs 50 lakhs is learnt to have been sanctioned for construction of the bridge, but there is no evidence of work being taken up till date, the Chairman said, while drawing the attention of the authority concerned to look into the matter and warned of launching agitation in case of neglecting the voice of the people.
