MALA celebrates 27th B'day

Along with celebrating the 27th Foundation Day of Manipur Library Association (MALA), the 2nd Nongmeikapam Gopal Singh Memorial Lecture programme was held at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) Hall, Yaiskul Police Lane here today.
The event was attended by L Nandakumar Singh, MLA of Uripok A/C as Chief Guest; L Sobita Devi, president of MALA as President while L Ibomcha Sinmgh, MLA of Keishamthong A/C and Dr RK Nimai, Commissioner (Arts & Culture) as Guests of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, DR RK Nimai pointed out that there is declining trend of reading habit amongst the people of the State and this in turn has affected the quality of education.
He stressed on the need for availing library in schools and colleges to encourage habit of reading among the people, specially the young students.
As part of the programme, the annual newsletter, MALA of the Association was also released.
