Imphal, November 20 2013:
Employees of Manipur State Co-operative Bank Ltd under the banner of Manipur State Co-operative Bank Employees Association (MSCBEA) will launch a cease work strike for two days on November 21 and 22 to press their demand for appointment of MSCB's own cadre officer as the MSCB's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) so as to facilitate implementation of Government of India's package for Revival of Short Term Co-operative Credit Structure (STCCS) in the State comprising 208 PACS and the MSCB Ltd.
In a statement, the MSBEA pointed out that due to non-appointment of the MSCB's professional CEO in time, the Central Government has not released its recapitalization assistance amounting to Rs 41.62 crores to the 208 PACS and the MSCB Ltd despite the fact that out of the candidates who responded to the bank's own advertisement on three occasions, only one cadre officer of the MSCB Ltd is found eligible for the post under the RBI's fit and proper criteria.
Further, the association urged the State Government to accord its approval for the appointment of the CEO within December 3 and warned that in case of failure it may be will compelled to launch indefinite cease work strike w.e.f.December 4 .
