Imphal, November 04 2013:
With an objective to improve the scope of organic farming in the state, the central government has taken up steps to sponsor schemes to provide organic farming certificate easily to the farmers with the introduction of the "Participate Organic Guarantee Scheme (PGS), India.
Economically backward organic farmers can avail this scheme and get the certificates as in its absence; they are unable to play in premium market flourishing.
The PGS is an alternative hope for such farmers which is a system for certification of Organic Farming initiated under National Project on Organic Farming and being implemented through National/ Regional centers of Organic Farming (N/RCOFs) in the country.
The small and marginal farmers can become part of the PGS (India) family for certification of their farms and process by getting registered with RCOF, Imphal.
