MLA Shyam hands over ambulance to CHIC

Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam has handed over one ambulance (Eeco Van) to Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) opened for COVID-19 positive people of Langthabal AC at Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur.
After handing over the ambulance on Friday, Karam Shyam said that it was very unfortunate that COVID-19 positive people sheltered at CHIC are being called out merely on the ground that the isolation centre was opened by MLA (him) .
Now is not the time to play cheap politics and anyone who can contribute/ donate to the CHIC can do so with sincerity, he said adding that he is ready to welcome anyone who offers to donate/ contribute for the CHIC.
Detailing COVID-19 patients and fatality rate in Langthabal AC, Karam Shyam said that a total of 286 people have contracted the virus so far and the virus has claimed 23 lives.
He said that CHIC for Langthabal at Canchipur was opened on May 9 and a total of 60 patients have been admitted so far of which 28 have recovered and sent to their respective homes while six patients have been referred to Covid Care Centre and three to hospital.
A total of 23 patients are currently staying at the centre while nine volunteers are rendering their service day and night with dedication, he said, adding that another set of volunteers have also distributed edible and other essential items to 415 families in areas notified as containment zones since the onslaught of second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
The ambulance charge for ferrying patient from Imphal to Canchipur is around Rs 3.500 and till Chajing, Karam Haoreibi is around Rs 5,000 but the ambulance provided to CHIC Langthabal will reduce cost of transportation of patients at least to some extent, he said and appealed to people of the constituency to utilise the ambulance by calling mobile numbers 7005701651 or 8787861013 .
He also extended his sincere gratitude to all those who rendered help and donated to CHIC Langthabal.
While calling for collective effort to defeat the pandemic by shouldering responsibility at the individual level, Karam Shyam said thar people of the state seem to be lacking understanding of the present situation as it is very difficult to convince people to go for early testing and vaccination.
