Dove rescued from Irom Sharmila's room

Imphal, September 29 2014 :
A spotted dove which intruded inside the room of Irom Chanu Sharmila at the security ward of JNIMS was rescued by the People for Animals (PFA) today.
According to a PFA release, women Home Guards of the special security ward of JNIMS handed over the displaced juvenile spotted dove to PFA.
The dove entered the room of Irom Sharmila on Sunday.
The guards told PFA that they saw Sharmila feeding and sleeping (to keep it warm) with the poor cute bird.

Population of Spotted dove listed in schedule IV is declining in Manipur due to mass poaching, added the release.
In another effort, PFA rescued two Eastern Grass Owls from different places.
Naorem Tomba from Kakching and Yumnam David of Charangpat Mamang leikai handed over the flightless owls to the PFA.
Meanwhile, Hidam Angou of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Ayang palli handed over a Malayan box turtle, which he found near his farm.
