Covid claims 18 more lives, infects 813 people

Despite the measures being taken up by the government to contain the spread of Covid-19 among the people, the second wave of the pandemic continues to surge with high positivity rate as 813 new positive cases and 18 fatalities were reported in the state on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the caseload swelled to 7462 with 4828 opting for home isolation, the remaining 2634 are undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
So far, 18,923 positive cases and 393 fatalities have been reported since the beginning of the current year.
The last seven days recorded 5202 new cases and 102 fatalities while 15,525 new cases and 343 fatalities have been reported during the current month.
The cumulative death toll has reached 748.The 18 fatalities reported on Thursday included a 64-year old female (Kak), a 65-year old male (Tml), an 80-year old female (Kak), a 90-year old male (IE), a 46-year old male (CCpur), a 49-year old male (CCpur), an 83-year old female (Kak), an 87-year old female (Kak), a 75-year old female (Kak), a 60-year old male (IE), a 60-year old male (IW), a 70-year oldfemale (IE), a 57-year old male (Kamj), an 80-year old female (IE), a 80-year old female (IW), a 65-year old male (IW), a 45-year old male (IE) and a 35-year old female (IW) who died at CCC Kakching (l), DH Tamenglong (l), Jivan Hospital (1), Rajmed (l), DH Churachandpur (2), Home Isolation (3), JNIMS (4) and RIMS (5) hospital respectively.
According to official reports, the 813 new cases included 812 civilians (407 males & 405 females) and one Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan.
Their samples were tested at RIMS (3), JNIMS (73), District Hospitals (411) and other private testing centres (326).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (169), Imphal West (300), Thoubal (33), Bishnupur (53), Kakching (57), Ukhrul (7), Churachandpur (109), Chandel (6), Senapati (24), Tamenglong (9), Teng-noupal (12), Kangpokpi (12), Jiribam (17) and Kamjong (4).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 576 patients were discharged from CAPF (13), home isolation (460), RIMS (4), JNIMS (9), BB (6), NSU (7), SHRI (11), RD Wing (6), LANVA (13), Babina Speciality Hospital H), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (30), Jivan Hospital (3), Senapati (5), Churachandpur (7) and Chandel (1).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 47,111 (general population - 43,361 and CAPF personnel - 3,750l.Number of recovered cases is 38,901 (general population - 35,252 and CAPF personnel - 3,649) and number of active cases is 7,462 (general population - 7,366 and CAPF personnel - 96).The recovery rate is 82.57 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1402 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 543 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur.
District Hospital and government institutions have 203D and 57B oxygen cylinders and district/ subdivision-wise allocation is Bishnupur (28D,0B), Chandel (17D,4B), Churachandpur (60D,2B), Senapati (19D,0B), Thoubal (11D,13B), Ukhrul (21D,0B), Tamenglong (5D,0B),Jiribam (20D,13B), Moreh(4D,6B), Mao (4D,6B), Kakching (0D,10B), Kangpokpi (5D,1B), Pherzawl (4D,3B), Kamjong (3D,1B).As on Wednesday, 3,67,655 individuals have been administered Covid-19 vaccines and 79,910 of them have completed second dose.
Meanwhile, 63 new positive cases were detected during RAT in Kakching district on Thursday and the cases are yet to be reflected in the official report of state IDSP.
Three cases were detected at Ema Hospital, 12 at Jivan Hospital and 48 at government RAT Centre.
One of them is from Thoubal district while the remaining 62 are from different localities in Kakching district.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (17,016), Imphal East (10,866), Thoubal (3362), Churachandpur (3305), Kangpokpi (1412), Tamenglong (1709), Bishnupur (2513), Senapati (1159), Ukhrul (1085), Kakching (1976), Chandel (845), Noney (499), Tengnoupal (498), Jiribam (430), Kamjong (380) and Pherzawl (56).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (287), Imphal East (194), Thoubal (72), Churachandpur (56), Kangpokpi (20), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (48), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (8), Kakching (31), Chandel (12), Noney (l), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does riot match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
The state health authority continues to play deaf and dumb to despite persistent intimation to provide district-specific case status.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 15,182 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 19,695 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,24,679 tests per million population against the national average of 2,42,041 TPM.
Case fatality rate rose to 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 4298 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 18.92 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 6.76 per cent.
