DC organizes tree plantation at Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, July 22 2015 : Flag off ceremony of Plantation of trees at catchment area of Kangpokpi water treatment plant under MGNREGS 2014-15 has been organized on Wednesday at ADC Complex, Kangpokpi on Wednesday by district collector Jacintha Lazarus.

Apart from the DC other officials,elected members and village elders were present in the function.

Speaking at shortevent she said that any area if that place has to be developed and all basic necessity like good drinking water, electricity and good roads should be provided.

"Inability to retain water in its soil is the main cause for the scarcity of water during dry season", asserted the lady IAS officer while adding that the river now has been flooded but during dry season the same place looked completely dry.

Stressing the key to mitigate water problem during dry season Senapati DC lamented that every village should ensure in a very systematic and scientific way that one third of their respective land is keep as reserved where the water supply and all the other things required for the village can be provided.

She also said that Kangpokpi can be a model for all the other villages to be replicate if every village within it has been plan systematically and scientifically.

The lady DC also stressed that our forefather have given us so many good things for our survival and it is the same responsibility we have to give to our future generation while adding that we should let our future generation complain of giving them only rocks to survive.

She said that the Government is working hard to ensure that Kangpokpi town is able to have 24x7 electricity while adding that when some of the sub-station work has been complete in another few months we are hoping that a minimum of 18 hours power supply can be provided.

Various CSOs within Sadar Hills, church leaders, village chiefs and job card holders of Kangpokpi, Dulen, T Tuinom, Lungphou and J Songtun participated in the flagged off ceremony of Plantation of trees at catchment area of Kangpokpi water treatment plant organization by District Administration in collaboration with Kangpokpi Town Committee.

More than 15 thousand of various saplings will be planted at the catchment areas.
