Imphal, August 04 2018:
Senior residents of JN Institute of Medical Sciences, Porompat who were appointed on regular basis today condemned the result of appointment of Associate Professors in various departments of the institution.
The recent appointments reflect the "rampant corruption and nepotism" during the selection process.
Many senior residents who are qualified and have years of teaching experience were sidelined and fresh recruitments were made, alleged the senior doctors in their signed statement today.
The statement signed by 30 resident doctors alleged that not a single internal/resident candidate was selected for the posts.
The appointment of the 17 fresh candidates showed that no preferences were given to the resident doctors, alleged the statement and continued that other premier institutions like AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh and RIMS Lamphelpat give preferences to resident doctors at the time of appointment of various posts.
Discontent with the authorities of JNIMS, doctors warned that the senior residents are all set to launch various form of democratic protests until the authorities concerned "rectify" the issue at the earliest.
