Kids hospitalised after having ice-cream

Two 3-year-old kids have been hospitalised, one in serious condition, after they consumed ice cream today.
According to a family member, two ice cream pouches were bought for the two children by the father of one of the kids from a shop located at Thangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai while returning home together after having a haircut.
The two kids are cousin brothers and they have been identified as Th Genius s/o Bipin and Th Hitler s/o Nilabanta of Thangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai.
After having lunch, the two kids had the ice-cream at home, he said and added that after a gap of around one hour both the children complained of stomach pain and started vomiting followed by sudden collapse.

Both the children were rushed to Mother's Care Children Hospital and Research Centre, Sagolband Moirang Leirak as their condition deteriorated with developing signs of change of skin colour.
Condition of one of the kids is stated to be stable, while the other is likely to be referred to RIMS hospital as his condition is still critical.
Imphal West Food Safety Officer Yumnam Satyajit and Imphal East Food Safety Officer Th Sunil visited the two kids at the private hospital later in the afternoon.
The two officers said that they have sent a sample of the ice cream brand to the laboratory for testing.
Imphal West CMO Dr S Bimolakumari, who also visited the two children, said that fever, vomiting and fainting are the symptoms of food poisoning.
She urged the general public not to buy or consume ice-cream with distorted packets or pouches.
The CMO further said that her office would carry out a drive against the ice-cream brand.
