Shop owners of Governor's road Paona Keithel protest prohibition of parking

Shop owners of Governor's Road, Paona Keithel today staged a protest demonstration against the prohibition of Parking to vehicles at the roadside.
Memorandums drawing attention to the grievances of the shop owners and runners were also submitted to the Governor of Manipur, Director of Transport as well as to the Superintendent of Police Imphal West.
Parking along the route has been prohibited by security force particularly by the CRPF on duty safeguarding the Raj Bhavan since August middle week after miscreants blasted a bomb near Manipur State Museum on the evening of August 15 this year.
A day after the blast another explosive was also recovered near Johnston Higher Secondary School.
Shop keepers of the area said that since the security forces had prohibited parking of vehicles on the road side all business has been put to a complete halt as customers had stopped coming due to the inconveniences.
.KHemanta, owner of L.I.Electronics said that their business has been put to serious trouble as the customers can't stopped even for a minute to buy goods from their shops.
The ban on parking was imposed since August 15 in connection with a bomb blast that occurred near state museum without giving any notification by transport department, he said.
He further said that there are around 140 shops along the road and families of those running the business are dependent to them.
"If they did not allow people to buy goods from us then how could we support our family", lamented a shopkeeper.
He also said that if the government thinks that the Governor is not safe with the parking then it is better shift the Raj Bhavan to some other places.
