Imphal, August 05 2018:
While supporting the Citizen (Amendment) Bill, 2016, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) appreciates Assam Govt.for its determination to NRC Bureaucracy and also the Narendra Modi led Central Government for adhering to the Supreme Court directed timeline for release of the NRC Data after a meticulous, comprehensive and rigorous process.
A statement of the AVBP issued by Ashish Chauhan, National General Secretary of the organisation said that the non-inclusion of 40 Lakhs people from the provisional data reflects and affirms the gravity of the illegal immigrant crisis in Assam.
The ABVP had launched various campaigns to build movement and sensitize people across India with regard to gravity of the crisis/external aggression by the illegal immigrants of Bangladesh.
"'We have always advocated the policy of 'detect, delete, deport' with regard to them.
The concern of the minority communities from the Bangladesh is being addressed by the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 being proposed by the Central Government, as it is of utmost importance to differentiate between illegal immigrants and genuine refugees.
These genuine refugees (Hindus and others) who are persecuted minorities of Bangladesh and Pakistan should be granted Indian Citizenship according to due procedure"', the statement added.
The statement further lambasted narrow vote-bank politics by the political parties .
"' We request them to stop supporting illegal immigrants on the pretext of being a probable vote-bank and in the larger interest of the nation"', the statement said.
