Imphal, October 11:
Expressing their dissension over the government decision to cut the benefits of state government employees, the Manipur secretariat staffs have decided to take up strong agitation and resign en masse if the government fails to revoke the order for the suspension of the allowances by October 20.The decision was taken in a general body meeting of the Manipur Secretariat Services association held at the Old Secretariat conference hall this noon.
The irked employees left their duties to attend the meet.
It may be recalled that the government by an order issued on April 19 this year had effected deduction of allowance including HRA, DA, TA, special pay, and leave encashment for six month.
After the expiry of the order in September, the Special Secretary Finance issued three separate office memoranda extending the validity of the earlier orders.
The employees resolved to resign en masse if the government fails to give their demands.
They also agreed that the association would take up further agitation along with the employees of JAC.
The present cut will affect employees from Grade IV rank to Class I officers to the tune of Rs 300 to Rs 1500 each month.
Secretariat Service president Y Raghumani termed the cut as a violation of the employees right in the name of the weak financial health of the state.
