The All Manipur Students Union, AMSU has reiterated its appeal for the immediate release of the MUSU general secretary, K Muktasana, and councilor Jiten, who were kidnapped by some armed persons on October 4 last.
The AMSU, which has been organizing sit in demonstrations by students at various places, has also declared that it was prepared to launch a massive agitation in this regard.
Meanwhile, the All Manipur Working Journalists Union, AMWJU has strongly condemned the AMSU for its threat to enforce closure of newspapers published in the state for not complying with its wishes.
The AMWJU was informed by a team of AMSU representatives led by its president during a meeting this afternoon at the Manipur Press Club that the AMSU would enforce closure of newspapers if the media continued the policy of not publishing reports regarding the kidnapping of the general secretary of the Manipur University Students Union by armed persons and its surrounding controversy.
