The demand for official recognition of Vaphei dialect will be discussed in the next Cabinet meeting to fulfill the long cherished demands of the Vaiphei people, assured Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the 59th general conference cum 8th Sports meet at Kangvai Churachandpur Dist yesterday, the Chief Minister said that the Government is taking time to officially recognise the dialect as it is still discussing the complications that may arise once the recognition is granted and added that the Govt will tackle the issue systematically.
Asserting that all tribes residing in the State are sons of the same soil, Chief Minister O Ibobi urged the people to promote peace and help in maintaining peaceful coexistence among the different communities residing in the State.
In his presidential speech, TN Haokip while drawing the attention of the Chief Minister urged the authorities concerned to set up an IIT centre in the State to hone the talents of our Science stream students.
The conference cum sports meet was held under the theme "Quality education - A tool for peace and development".
TD Minister Phunzathang Tonsing attended the function as the guest of honour while MLA Chaltonlien Amo, Chairman Hill Areas Committee Songchinkhup, MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing, MLA Thangso Baite and MLA T Manga Vaiphei attended the function as the special invitees.
