Imphal, June 15 2021:
While suggesting cancellation of Class X and Class XII examinations in view of the present Covid-19 pandemic situation, United Association of Recognised Schools of Manipur (UARSOM) has shared several modalities for giving promotion to Class X and XII students.
In a release, UARSOM general secretary Seikhojam Kipgen pointed out that the HSLC and HSSLC Examination-2021 have been postponed until further notice due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Considering the present scenario, UARSOM is of the view that the said examinations should be cancelled and the students promoted.
While giving promotion to the students, the schools concerned should be empowered to allot marks to their students.
This is necessary as such step may do more justice to students as teachers of the school know best the individual calibre of their students in scholastic and non-scholastic areas, Seikhojam opined, while adding that BSEM and COHSEM should perform the vital task of overseeing that the marks allotted to students by the schools are in conformance to the consecutive past three years performance of the school ie, 2020, 2019 and 2018 in HSLC and HSSLC examinations so that the school does not misuse this authorisation.
It is also suggested that the basis for allotting marks to students be based on the Periodic examinations or the Sessional/ Pre-board or Pre-council ex aminations conducted by the school or in whichever way the school deem most appropriate, he continued.
Opining for no ranking or toppers for HSLCE-2021 and HSSLCE-2021 for this year, Seikhojam maintained that if the students are not satisfied with the marks allotted to them, the students may be given option to appear the HSLCE-2021 and HSSLCE-2021 when the pandemic is over.
In this regard, BSEM and COHSEM should make necessary arrangements to facilitate the said students to appear the examinations, he urged, while exhorting BSEM and COHSEM to be straightforward and give a clear cut announcement so as not to make the candidates for both exams to remain in confusion any longer.
