3 UGs, 3 arm smugglers held

Imphal, March 10 2015:
Security forces arrested six UGs including three arms smugglers during the five-day Yoashang festival.
A combined team of Bishnupur District Police Commandos and 12 Bihar Regiment conducted search operation at Leimapok-pam Khunpham area and arrested one active member of RPF/PLA on March 5, according a statement issued by PRO Police.
The arrested has been identified as one Nongmaithem Nanoa Singh alias Raju (27), son of N Kunjababu Singh of Kakching Naturecure Hospital Manak, A/P Leimapokpam Khunpham.
Investigation reveals that the accused was involved in collection of information about the movement of security personnel operating in Bishnupur District and the plan to ambush them.
And combined team of Bishnupur District Police Commandos and 12 Bihar Regiment conducted search operation at Nambol Bazaar area and arrested one active cadre of PREPAK one March 7 .
He has been identified as one Hijam Priyokumar Singh (44), son of H Itoyaima Singh of Naoremthong Shamusang Lairembi Leirak.
Some incriminating articles were seized from his possession.
As a follow up action, Bishnupur Police Commandos arrested another active member of PREPAK identified as one Potshangbam Dhaneshwor Sing (41), son of P Gopi-mohan Singh of Wangoo Sabal Mayai Leikai, A/P Changangei Ucheckon.
In another incident, police arrested two armed smugglers in Haobam Marak Lourembam Leikai area.
The arms smugglers were arrested by Imphal West District Police commandos while frisking and checking at Yaingam Leirak crossing on March 5 .
The two have been identified as Lourembam Rabiraj alias Boinao (20), son of L Rajen Singh of Haobam Marak Lourambam Leikai and Kongjingbam Premjit (38), son late K Manihar Singh of Phoumlou Mayai Leikai.
Investigation reveals that they bought and sold arms and ammunitions to "outlawed gangs" in Imphal area.
One 9mm Pistol along with one magazine loaded with two live rounds and one miss round of 9mm ammunition and some incriminating articles were seized from the possession of L Rabiraj.
Police further said that based on a reliable intelligence input about the presence of some armed smugglers in New Checkon area, a team of Imphal West District Police Commandos conducted frisking and checking at New Checkon near Tribal Market and arrested one armed smuggler on March 7 .
The arrested personal has been identified as one Paominlun Haokip (27), son Jamthang Haokip of Churachanpur Taising Bollen.
Investigation reveals that he is involved in buying and selling of arms and had close links with KNA, KYKL and other outlawed organizations.
In an another incident, a combined team of Thoubal District Police Commandos and 22 Assam Rifles conducted search operation and arrested one active cadre of KYKL at Kakching Khunou, Thongam Kalika Lai Leirak one March 7 .
The arrested has been identified as Salam Shyam alias Ajit Singh (32), son of late S Bira Singh of Kakching Khunou Thongam Kalika Lai Leikai.
