Blind school rape case: Accused remanded to judicial custody till September 29

Imphal, September 08 2014:
The accused in the government-run Blind School rape case, Him Bahadur Thapa (35) alias Kansa who had repeatedly failed to appear in a court here earlier showed up at Cheirap court, Uripok Imphal today for the trial.
The accused had appeared before the court at 11:30 am today in the presence of judge A.Guneshwar Sharma who awarded him to the judicial remand till September 29 .
The accused is a chowkidar in the Government Blind School, Takyel and had allegedly raped a 14-year old girl few months back.
He had earlier failed to appear in court regarding the case on August 11 and on August 25 stating some health problems.
Family members of the victim had accused that Him Bahadur Thapa had raped the victim twice in October/November 2013 and then again in April, 2014 at the Government Blind School, Takyel.
Regarding the case, Lamphel police had lodged an FIR under 376 IPC and Section 6 POCSO (Protection of children from sexual offense Act, 2012) after L.Ibobi Singh, director of Social Welfare lodged a written report to the O.C, Lamphel police station on April 13, 2014 .
