Mass testing: 4th day detects 112 cases from 2173 tests

On the fourth day of aggressive mass testing drive initiated by the Imphal West district administration on Friday, 2173 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) were conducted in 21 places of the district, out of which 112 cases were found to be Covid-19 positive.
According to a report from the District Administration, mass testing was done at Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai where 93 tests were conducted and one tested positive; Uchiwa Leirak Achouba 142 tests and three positive cases; Maklang Makha Leikai 185 tests and four positive cases; Kanto Makha Leikai 100 tests and nine positive cases; Langjing Mamang Leikai 149 tests and 10 positive cases; Langjing Chingmang 124 tests and two positive cases; Lairenjam Mayai Leikai 146 tests and eight positive cases; Thangal Bazar 237 tests and 10 positive cases; Nagamapal 317 tests and six positive cases; Yurembam Makha Leikai 198 tests and 19 positive cases; Thangtek 154 tests and 10 positive cases; Sagolband Nepra Menjor 92 tests and four positive cases; Sangaithel 93 tests and seven positive case; Airport 15 tests and one positive case; Singjamei Chanam Pukhri Mapal nine tests and one positive case; Lamphel six tests and one positive case; and at Mayang Langjing Tamang where tests were conducted on 82 people and 16 of them were found to be Covid positive.
Moreover, 25 tests were also conducted at Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai besides one at Singjubung and five at Medical Directorate results of which came negative.
Meanwhile, DC Imphal West Th Kirankumar in a release notified that on Saturday mass testing will be conducted at Awang Leikai community hall, Samurou Awang Leikai; Lamdeng Awang Leikai community hall; Heibongpokpi community hall; Kadangband community hall; Chingakham Lampak community hall, Thangmeiband Lourungpurel Leikai; Chanam Pukhri Mapal community hall; Nongthombam Leikai community hall, Pishum Ningombam Leirak; Uripok Khumanthem Leikai community hall; Yengkhom Leirak community hall; Tera Loukham Leirak community hall; Nganuleima Youth Development community hall, Khaidem and Phoijing Chingning community hall Nambol.
District administration, Imphal East in coordination with CMO Imphal East and KSYO also launched a mass Covid-19 testing drive to make Khurai AC free of Covid at Kangla Siphai community hall on Friday.
Speaking in this regard, Assembly Segment COVID Awareness and COVID Enforcement Committee coordinator Amba Sanjenbam informed that this is the third mass testing to be carried out in the constituency.
The testing will commence from June 7 onwards and a target of covering around 130 people within a span of 5 days has been set.
As such, he appealed to the people to take the test and ascertain their Covid-19 status.
Those who test positive will be kept at the Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC), he said and urged all local clubs to extend their support and to contact the committee for any mass testing.
Meanwhile, Nongpok Sanjenbam COVID 19 Task Force has started a two-day mass testing at Nongpok Sanjenbam from Thursday.
In all, 190 people were tested on Thursday, out of which 10 were confirmed to be positive for Covid-19, while 115 were tested on Friday, out of which 12 were found to be positive.
Those confirmed positive have been admitted to the CHICs at Sanjenbam community hall and Takhel Sanjenbam High School.
Under the initiative of intending candidate in Kshetrigao AC Lamyanba Eepu, Covid-19 vaccination drive was held at NMC club, Top Awang Leikai.
During the drive, 166 locals were inoculated against Covid free of cost.
Lamyanba Eepu informed that such vaccination drives will be conducted in several other localities of Kshetrigao AC .
