Ukhrul, January 31 2018:
Ukhrul District Teachers Welfare Association (UDTWA) has sought the attention of the State Government for immediate release of pending conversion/fund of last year mid-day meal provided under SSA project.
According to a statement of UDTWA chairman L Wungnaoshang, the food provided to the school going children was not served for the academic session of 2017 due to lack of arrangement of conversion cost (even though the rice was issued) .
He said that, in spite of repeated approach to the department concerned, no arrangements were taken up even till the end of the academic session.
He further expressed disappointment on late disbursement of text books and uniforms which were distributed in April and May-June causing inconveniences to both teachers and students in maintaining regular classes.
Meanwhile, UDTWA secretary CS Songayam appealed the State Government to release the three months worth pending salary for Council teachers and SSA and four months pay for RMSA teachers.
The State Government if fail to act in time would impact the academic session and would deprive the right to education of every students.
According to both the statements, the issues have been highlighted to the MLA concerned for taking up necessary arrangements and to expedite the process considering the plight of students.
