Imphal, February 21 2013:
President of Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) Wangmayum Islaudin has alleged that Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) and its agents are converting education into a business by enrolling 1924 students to appear in the 2013 matric examination illegally.
Speaking to media persons at the office of DESAM here today, Islaudin asserted that out of 7000 students who were declared not eligible to appear in last year's matric examination, BSEM has recently registered 4382 students to appear in the HSLC examination, 2013 which is schedule to start from February 27 .
Expressing objection to this illegal registration, DESAM had submitted memorandum to the concerned authorities.
However, following a resolution taken during a meeting of the board members held on 15th January, BOSEM send notifications to all school authorities for submitting names of students who would appear in the upcoming metric examination.
It also issued fresh forms to disqualified students and verified 1626 students from 17 schools as genuine.
Moreover, against the appeal made by DESAM in its memorandum, BOSEM also made a supplementary list of students which include 298 names from the list of disqualified students, Islaudin said, adding that DESAM is against such practices of backdoor registration of students by agents and BSEM authority.
He also said that DESAM knows the agents who are involved and appropriate action would be initiated against them.
DESAM would not allow issuing admit cards to those disqualified students, and no guardian should raise any voice against the student body as BSEM should be responsible for all this illegal registrations.
