CM assures 5 lakh each for electrocuted victims besides job for kin

Chief Minister N Biren Singh today assureda compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the two youths who were reportedly electrocuted yesterday at Tuikot village.
The Government has also agreed to rehabilitate the next of kin of the two victims with a Government job each, the Secretary of Kuki Inpi Churachandpur, Lalkhohao Chongloi who was member of Kuki CSO delegates that met the Chief Minister said.
Thangminlen Haokip, 31 of Lhanjang Village and Awnkap Haokip, 35 of Tuilaphai village had met the fatal accident as they prepared to detach the rope used for fixing a snapped High Tension wire at Tuikot.
Sources said the two along with several others had tied a rope on the snapped wire to stretch it for fixing on the pole.
They were done restoring the snapped line but even as they tried to remove the attached rope the current that was cut off became active before they were done killing the duo at the spot.
The circumstances leading to the death has made the Kuki CSOs in the district fume at the negligence and as such demanded a thorough probe before claiming the bodies.
With the local MLA and HAC Chairman TT Haokip stepping in, the Chief Minister met the CSO leaders at his chamber at around 4.30 pm today where he reportedly assured them of the compensations.
Two others who were also injured in the incident will be attended to by the Electricity Department until they fully recuperate, added the source.
With the CSO delegates briefing the public of the deal made with the Chief Minister, the two bodies that are kept at the district hospital mortuary since last night have been claimed by the family members.
