Disclosing this to Hueiyen Lanpao, President of Tousem Headquarters Students' Union Joseph Newme said that the health facility provided by the state government at PHC, Tousem has been totally cut off as it has been closed since April 1 .
He said that there is no staff in the PHC except one doctor and a watchman.
For the past few months there were two hired nurses from the locality with payment of 200 per day from the hospital management but the government has stopped releasing funds and the twonurses has to quit their job.
Assurances have been given by local MLA as well as the Deputy Director Health Service during their visit to PHC to be functional by hiring nurses until regular nurses are posted.
The helpless poor patients have to undergo untold sufferings and miseries, it added.
Even though there is an ambulance for the PHC, the service in transporting patients, medicine or other equipment comes to a grinding halt due to non appointment of driver, Joseph said.
The people in the sub-division compelled to question the government's motives as to why it has stopped functioning the PHC, ignoring the rights of providing health facilities, non posting of nurses and staff in the PHC Tousem.
"Now women have to deliver baby at their home depriving all government facilities, schemes such as JSY and basic amenities.
